The South Hams, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), is situated in South Devon and has some of Britain’s finest protected landscapes. It is cherished for its diverse and picturesque scenery ranging from rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, rolling hills, colourful hedge banks and lush green fields that have been has been moulded and maintained for centuries by farmers and other land managers. As you would expect from such a verdant landscape, the South Hams produces a bountiful harvest both from the sea and the land: flavoursome, succulent meat, sumptuous seafood and exceptional dairy produce.

Besides producing an excellent harvest, the South Hams has something else - something special – an array of people who make specialist products that have helped to enhance the area’s reputation and appeal to everyone who loves quality food and drink.

Many of the area’s shops, delicatessens and restaurants stock locally produced, speciality products, some of which include: cider and organic fruit juices, chutneys, jams, bread, cakes, pastries, ice-cream, clotted cream, butter, cheese, wine, hand-made crisps, award-winning liqueurs, chilli sauces, hand-made chocolates and champagne cider, all made in small batches by local producers who are passionate about the products they have created and make.

Many of these specialist producers are members of the South Hams Food and Drink Association and whose reputation for promoting the South Hams as an area of unique excellence extends way beyond Devon.
